Alan C. Lund is Executive Vice President of Magnetics at MP Materials (NYSE: MP). Joining MP in 2021 as the Magnetics Division’s first hire, he has since assembled a world-class team, initiated construction of Independence, established a supplier network across North America and Europe, and forged key technical partnerships with government agencies and academic institutions—all driving America’s next-generation rare earth magnet supply chain.

A technical leader and entrepreneur, Alan brings extensive experience scaling breakthrough technologies from the lab to commercial production. Before joining MP Materials, he founded and led Veloxint Corporation and Xtalic Corporation, where he raised capital, established durable commercial partnerships with leading customers, and provided the commercial and technical leadership required to develop, scale, and bring advanced materials technologies to market.

Alan’s academic background is grounded in metallurgy. He earned a B.S. in Materials Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Northwestern University, followed by three years as a post-doctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
