Michael Rosenthal is a Founder and the Chief Operating Officer of MP Materials (NYSE: MP). Since assuming responsibility for Mountain Pass operations in 2017, Michael has overseen an operational turnaround that propelled the site from cold idle to record annual production.

In addition to restoring full-scale rare earth processing capability to Mountain Pass, Michael has led the engineering, operations, and maintenance teams responsible for bringing new technologies in midstream processing and downstream manufacturing online. His commitment to operational excellence has driven a culture of innovation and reliability and exceptional environmental, health, and safety performance.

Before co-founding MP Materials with James Litinsky, Michael was a partner at QVT Financial, where he focused on investments in the global automotive sector and in China. Prior to QVT, he worked as a senior high-yield credit analyst at Shenkman Capital Management. Michael graduated from Duke University with an A.B. in Economics and Comparative Area Studies.
